UNB Quarterly Giving Program

UNB is happy to announce the launch of a new quarterly charity program. Each quarter, we will select a local charity we wish to support and gather donations throughout the three months. We will then make one large donation at the end of the quarter to the charity in need. Please see below for information on our past recipients.

Ballard Community Services 2013 - 1st Quarter
The charity selected for our first quarter of giving for 2013 was Ballard Community Services.

Ballard Community Services is a non-profit organization that provides an affordable, high quality early education program and essential basic life assistance for families and individuals in need.

Blue Santa 2012 - 4th Quarter
The charity for our fourth quarter of giving for 2012 was the Lawrence Police Blue Santa Program.

The Lawrence Police Blue Santa Program is a non-profit organization, established by the men and women of the Lawrence, Kansas Police Department. With the help of volunteers from the Lawrence Police Department and Lawrence citizens, this program is able to provide toys and food, during the holiday season, to those who are less fortunate living within the city limits of Lawrence, Kansas.

Willow Domestic Violence Cente 2012 - 3rd Quarter
The charity selected for our third quarter of giving for 2012 was The Willow Domestic Violence Center.

The first battered woman's shelter in Kansas, The Willow Domestic Violence Center provides safe-shelter, peer counseling, advocacy and other services to survivors of domestic violence in Douglas, Franklin, and Jefferson counties.

The center works towards peace in the world by elimination of violence in our communities. Therefore, The Willow Domestic Violence Center is dedicated to the empowerment of women and children, the creation of peaceful safe space; the promotion of equality and respect for all people; the appreciation of difference; and the social action necessary to achieve these goals.

Family Promise of Lawrence 2012 - 2nd Quarter
The charity selected for our second quarter of giving for 2012 was Family Promise of Lawrence.

Family Promise of Lawrence is a non-profit, interfaith hospitality network providing temporary assistance, hospitality and case management for families with children experiencing homelessness.

The innovative model of care operates at one-third the cost of a traditional shelter. Through the generosity and dedication of their volunteers and local host congregations, every dollar donated is matched by more than $3 in in-kind goods and services. Their economical, individualized plans help families take the necessary steps toward lasting independence. All their families receive the resources necessary to maintain a healthy life including overnight accommodations at a local congregation, three meals a day and access to shower and laundry facilities. Additionally, they aim to get every family back on their feet as soon as possible through intensive case management, social support and linkage with applicable social and educational services.

Cooper's Cause 2012 - 1st Quarter
Our first recipient was Cooper's Cause Foundation which was established to aid families who face unexpected medical expenses due to children born with congenital heart defects. Sometimes life’s most difficult challenges inspire us to achieve great things. That’s the spirit fueling Cooper’s Cause Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to paying forward Cooper William Keefer’s blessings by supporting families as they face the strain of unexpected medical expenses related to pediatric heart conditions. Together, we can impact these little fighters' lives and realize the true power of their innocent smiles.
